Rafael Barreto is a Senior Attorney in the firm’s Business and Family Groups, focused on employment-based, family-based, and investment-based petitions, as well as consular processing, amongst other areas of immigration law.
Rafael possesses extensive experience in immigrant visas, including PERMs and adjustment applications, and nonimmigrant visas, including most work-related applications. This includes H-1B visas for professional workers, L-1 petitions for intra-company transferees, O-1 visas for noncitizen of extraordinary ability and fashion models, E-1 and E-2 visas for treaty investors and treaty traders, F-1 visas for students, B-1/B-2 visas for business and tourism, among others.
Rafael has also made appearances with clients before USCIS in field offices around the country, and has worked on almost every type of immigration benefit throughout his career.
Rafael originally joined Wildes & Weinberg as a paralegal in 1995, and has been with the firm for over 3 decades. Rafael possesses a degree as an “Abogado” (Attorney) conferred upon him by the University of La Sabana, in Bogota, Colombia, and completed a program at Pace University in White Plains, NY. He is licensed in the State of New York, a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and is fluent in Spanish.
