Alec Nelson is an Associate Attorney on both the Litigation and Family Law teams. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and before Immigration Courts nationwide. Alec earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2019, where he was honored as an International Human Rights Fellow and received the Gold Pro Bono Award in recognition of his dedication to providing free legal services to underserved communities.

During his time at Brooklyn Law, he also served as Chair of the BLS OUTLaws. He previously obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Sonoma State University.

Alec brings a breadth of experience representing clients before USCIS Field Offices and Immigration Courts across the country. He has helped individuals pursue a wide range of immigration benefits and forms of relief, including Naturalization, Adjustment of Status, Removal of Conditions, Asylum, Withholding of Removal under the Convention Against Torture, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

He also has great experience at various nonprofits, including Peace Over Violence and Catholic Charities, and he also worked as an Intern with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Known for his compassionate and client-centered approach, Alec prioritizes building strong relationships to better understand his clients’ goals and guide them effectively through complex legal processes.
