employers may continue to use present version of form i-9

USCIS has announced that employers may continue to use the present version of Form I-9 in order to verify the employment eligibility of their employees, despite the fact that the expiration date of the form passed as of August 31, 2012.

The presently acceptable version of Form I-9 may be found on USCIS’ website at: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=31b3ab0a43b5d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=db029c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

USCIS has submitted a revised version of Form I-9 to the Office of Management and Budget, but it is still in the comment stage and it willl still be some time before the new version is adopted and published.
