January 28, 2011- USCIS announced late last night that it had received a sufficient number of H-1B visa petitions to reach the cap for this fiscal year. They have indicated that Wednesday, January 26, 2011 is the “final receipt date” for new H-1B specialty occupation petitions requesting an employment start date in the current fiscal year.
USCIS will begin accepting H-1B petitions for the new fiscal year (which starts on October 1) as of April 1.
