michael wildes discusses border control and political asylum on al-jazeera

Wildes & Weinberg P.C. Managing Partner Michael Wildes recently appeared on on Al Jazeera: Deportation Policies Slow Legal System.

It’s all in the numbers. There is a back log in processing deportation and asylum cases. More than 350,000 undocumented individuals attempted to cross the Mexican border into the United States just last year. There are only 57 immigration courts with 231 sitting immigration judges; that means that each judge would hear approximately 1,500 cases each year. And that is only for the undocumented individuals coming in through Mexico. No wonder we have a serious back log. Michael Wildes, former Federal Prosecutor, current professor of business immigration law, and well-thought of professional shares his comments on this predicament from the firm’s Aventura, Florida offices.
