It’s all in the numbers. There is a back log in processing deportation and asylum cases. More than 350,000 undocumented individuals attempted to cross the Mexican border into the United States just last year. There are only 57 immigration courts with 231 sitting immigration judges; that means that each judge would hear approximately 1,500 cases each year. And that is only for the undocumented individuals coming in through Mexico. No wonder we have a serious back log.
