new combined ead/advanced parole card qualifies as list a document

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services recently combined two formerly separate documents—the Employment Authorization Document and Advance Parole—into one sole card for certain I-485 applicants. This new card will consolidate the documents some pending immigrants need to bring with them when returning to the United States from trips abroad. Also noteworthy is the fact that this new combined EAD card with Advance Parole documentation serves as a List A document for the purpose of I-9 employment verification authorization.  Like other List A documents, the card demonstrates both identity and employment authorization.  Employers and HR representatives should be aware that this new card qualifies as such, and that refusing to accept it as a List A document, or requiring a new hire to provide additional documentation, could potentially constitute document abuse.
