new passport requirement

The Department of Homeland Security and Department of State recently issued a reminder that as of January 31, 2008, all adult travelers (including previously exempt citizens of the United States, Canada and Bermuda) are required to present proof of citizenship and proof of identity when arriving to the United States by land or sea.

A requirement for adult travelers arriving by air to present a passport to enter the United States was previously put into effect on January 23, 2007.

A U.S. Passport Card is now available for frequent travelers by land or sea.  This Passport Card may not be used to travel by air.  Information regarding the U.S. Passport Card may be found on the State Department’s website at http://travel.state.gov/passport/ppt_card/ppt_card_3926.html.
