In order to qualify for an O-1 visa which allows individuals of extraordinary ability in the arts, sciences, athletics, education or business to live and work in the United States, a foreign national must provide adequate documentation to demonstrate that he/she has sustained national or international acclaim in their field. The individual must provide substantial evidence to prove that he/she meets 3 of the 6 evidence categories defined by statute, as well as a written advisory opinion from a labor union or relevant peer group. The O-1 visa applicant must also show that he/she has an offer of employment in the United States to work in his/her field of expertise (or several offers of employment from multiple sources, along with a third-party Agent to petition on the individual’s behalf and connect him/her to the multiple employers).
Joao Henrique Brandao has built a renowned reputation as a fine artist. His works are in public and private collections in Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Poland and the United States, including in the permanent collection of the Art Students League of New York. His work has been exhibited at prestigious forums globally, including at Studio 57 Fine Art in New York; Miguel Angelo Pucci Museum in Sao Paulo, Brazil; and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where he has also been invited to teach painting courses and workshops.
Joao has also garnered much acclaim for his talent as a restoration and conservation artist, having done substantial work in the recreation and restoration of architectural decorative interiors in classical styles. In the next 3 years, pursuant to his O-1 visa, Joao will continue this wonderful work, including with Felix Chavez Inc., on several noteworthy projects restoring landmark buildings throughout the New York City area. Copious articles have been published about Joao Brandao and his work in major art publications, and he has been the recipient of numerous distinguished awards.
