michael wildes offers guidance and advice to attorneys looking to return to the legal profession

On February 4, 2016, Managing Partner Michael Wildes returned to Pace Law School to offer assistance to attorneys who desire to return to the legal profession in connection with Pace Law’s New Direction for Attorneys program. This unique and innovative program was designed to provide lawyers re-entering the legal marketplace with knowledge of substantive law, professional legal skills, and practical legal experience that will enhance their chances of success either as practicing attorneys or attorneys pursuing alternative non-legal careers.  Reflecting upon his own experience as an attorney,  Michael shared insight into his career, hot topics in immigration law,  the qualities he looks for in attorney job candidates and offered advice  on how to develop oneself in an area of expertise that is most appealing to those desiring to reenter the law field.

More than fifty five years since its inception, the firm continues to serve a distinguished domestic and international clientele and covers all areas of U.S. immigration law, including employment and investment-based immigration, work permits, permanent residence for qualified individuals, family-based immigration, asylum application, all temporary and permanent-type visas, naturalization, and Form I-9 compliance. Today, the firm has offices in New York City, Englewood, New Jersey and Miami, Florida and plans to expand to Los Angeles, California are in the works.

Michael enjoys mentoring young lawyers and being on the lecture circuit. He has provided workshops on U.S. Immigration Law to universities, corporations, non-profit and social organizations, other law firms, immigration municipalities, and to the public at large for many years.  As a service to the community, these lectures are free of charge and intended to increase public understanding of immigration laws and how to remain in compliance.  Michael has  previously presented lectures at such noteworthy institutions as Yale University, Yeshiva University, New York University, Berkeley College, and organizations such as the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Realtors, and other Foundations.

In addition to running a highly successful immigration law practice, Michael serves as Counsel to Lincoln Center and two international/corporate law firms. A former Federal Prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn (1989-1993), he has testified on Capitol Hill in connection with anti-terrorism legislation and is internationally renowned for his successful representation of distinguished individuals and corporate clients such as performing artists, directors, writers, models, actors/actresses, athletes, race car drivers, fine artists, art dealers, curators, and literary agents. Some of the firm’s recent clients include famed artist Sarah Brightman, several Miss Universe winners as well as soccer icon Pele.

Moreover, Michael  is a frequent participant on professional panels and commentator on network television and radio with regard to immigration law, and is an Adjunct Professor of Business Immigration Law at The Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City.
