our englewood, new jersey office is expanding

Managing Partner Michael Wildes is pleased to announce that the U.S. Immigration law firm is expanding its team and presence in Englewood, New Jersey, a cosmopolitan suburb close to New York City. After two decades, Wildes & Weinberg is moving its Englewood office to a new state-of-the-art renovated building.

The City of Englewood, often called the Bedroom of Wall Street because of bankers and industrialists who lived there is and has a diverse population of nearly 30,000 people. Within its almost 5 square mile radius, Englewood is home to the Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, known for its cardiac, bloodless surgery, and breast care programs as well as several public and private elementary, middle, and high schools, churches, mosques, and synagogues of numerous denominations, as well as The Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, a 150 acre nature preserve where you can hike, picnic, and observe birds and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

Englewood’s downtown boasts a diverse and unique retail and culinary experience and offers entertainment at the bergenPac, whose mission is to make live performing arts and arts education accessible to its diverse community. Tony Bennett and Dizzie Gillespie, the Isley Brothers, are but a few musicians whose success is connected to Englewood. The Sugar Hill Gang, founders of hip hop and who are known for “Rapper’s Delight”, hail from the family of Sylvia Robinson, who also resided in Englewood.

In addition, the likes of Dizzie Gillespie; Tony Bennett; Eddie Murphy, John Travolta, Sara Jessica Parker, Brooke Shields, Clarke Peters, Vince Curatola, Charles Osgood, Alicia Keys, and many more talented artists have called Englewood their home.  Moreover, The Lillian Booth Actors home, an assisted-living facility that services entertainment and performing arts professionals was founded in Englewood in 1912.

Athletes such as Bruce Harper who played for the New York Jets and Bill Willoughby, the first NBA player drafted out of Englewood’s high school when he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks, also call Englewood home, and often return to visit with the local students.

Perhaps most interesting is the fact that Managing Partner Michael Wildes is also the current Mayor of Englewood, New Jersey.  From to 1998 to 2003, Michael was the Second Ward Councilman and then was elected to serve as Mayor from 2004 – 2010.  Michael was reelected to the position of Mayor once again from 2019 to the present.

Wildes & Weinberg was founded in 1960 by Senior Partner, Leon Wildes.  Nearly three quarters of a century later, the firm continues to concentrate its practice in all aspects of U.S. immigration and nationality law, servicing the immigration requirements of prominent American and International firms, banks, industrial, financial, and manufacturing concerns, as well as law firms in connection with the personnel needs of their foreign national employees.

In addition, the firm has a distinguished clientele and has done substantial immigration work for performing artists, directors, writers, models, actors/actresses, athletes, fine artists, art dealers, curators, and literary agents. Most notable was Leon Wildes’ successful representation of former Beatle John Lennon and his artist wife, Yoko Ono in their deportation proceedings, the basis of which has inspired legislation, and has been portrayed in films, plays, and literary works worldwide.  Some of the firm’s other distinguished clients include scholar Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks (z”l), as well as soccer icon Pele, Master Chef Jean-Georges and Former First Lady Melania Trump and her family.

Michael Wildes, the firm’s Managing Partner, is also currently serving his fourth term as Mayor of Englewood, New Jersey,  is the author of Safe Haven in America: Battles to Open the Golden Door (which draws on over a quarter of a century of his practice in the immigration field),  is an Adjunct Professor at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York, and serves as Counsel to Lincoln Center and several international/corporate law firms.

Despite difficulties currently being encountered in dealing with U.S. immigration authorities, the firm has maintained an extraordinary track record for success in its cases. The firm’s litigation group has expanded its efforts in filing Mandamus Actions and other Actions in Federal Courts throughout the nation.

In addition, Wildes & Weinberg’s multilingual staff is spread throughout its offices in New York City, Englewood, New Jersey, Miami, Florida, Denver, Colorado and by appointment only in Los Angeles, California and Tel Aviv, Israel, and are known for their experience and special expertise in processing each foreign national’s case with nothing less than the highest level of professionalism.
