wildes & weinberg supports englewood idol 2015

Wildes & Weinberg, P.C. and Managing Partner Michael Wildes are proud supporters of Englewood Idol 2015.

Englewood Idol is a singing competition open to any high school student who currently lives or goes to school in Englewood, NJ. The funds raised from this event are incorporated into the Dr. John Grieco Scholarship Fund, a 501(c)3 student-run non-profit that awards $22,000 at graduation to 16 local college-bound students. The late Dr. John Grieco, for whom the Scholarship Fund was named, was the Englewood Public School Superintendent who spearheaded the creation of the Academies @ Englewood program as well as other initiatives bringing educational reform and greater opportunities for students in the Englewood Public Schools.

The event will take place at BergenPAC on Friday, January 16 at 7:00 pm. This year’s event will feature nine singing contestants as well as dancers competiting for “Englewood’s Best Dance Crew”. The judging panel will once again feature Florian Bellanger, acclaimed pastry chef and judge of the TV show Cupcake Wars, as well as a host of other local celebrities. In addition to serving as the firm’s Managing Partner, Michael Wildes served as a two-term City Council Person and two-term Mayor of Englewood, NJ, where he still resides.  For Michael, one of the highlights of his public service was getting to know his constituents and connecting with them outside of the political arena. Englewood Idol began in 2004 the same year that Michael Wildes was sworn-in as the town’s Mayor.

Furthermore, Michael and his law firm continue to connect with the students in Englewood by hosting them for work-study programs, providing seminars on U.S. Immigration Law, and serving on panels related to changes in immigration laws that may effect them or their families.

Wildes & Weinberg was founded more then 5 decades ago by Michael’s father, Leon Wildes, who is best known for his successful representation of John Lennon in his deportation proceedings, the circumstances of which have inspired documentaries, films, and other literary works. Over the past 50 years, the firm has concentrated its practice in all aspects of U.S. immigration and nationality law, servicing the immigration needs of individuals as well as prominent American and International banks, industrial, financial, legal, and manufacturing corporations in connection with the personnel needs of their foreign national employees.  In addition, the firm has a distinguished clientele and have done substantial immigration work for performing artists, directors, writers, models, actors/actresses, athletes, fine artists, art dealers, curators, and literary agents. Today, the firm consists of more than 40 individuals, all expert in U.S. immigration law, and the multi-lingual staff is spread throughout three offices; New York City, Englewood, NJ, and Miami, FL.
