In this interview, Michael discusses the recent deportation of a Taiwanese mother who gave birth to a daughter during a U.S. bound international flight. The baby was permitted to stay in the United States, the mother, however, was ordered deported.

A former Federal Prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn  (1989-1993), he has testified on Capitol Hill in connection with anti-terrorism legislation and is internationally renowned for his successful representation of distinguished individuals and corporate clients. Having represented the United States government in immigration proceedings, Michael Wildes is a frequent participant on professional panels and commentator on network television and radio with regard to corporate immigration law, employer sanction work  and compliance.

For more than five decades, Wildes & Weinberg has been concentrating exclusively in federal immigration and nationality law. The firm’s original clientele consisted of individuals, rather than corporations, who had been placed in deportation or exclusion proceedings or were otherwise in jeopardy. The practice expanded steadily as word of its outstanding achievements in individual cases spread in the international community (including the firm’s representation of former Beatle John Lennon in deportation proceedings), attracting clients from around the world. Today the firm, which has offices in New York City, Englewood, NJ, Miami, FL, and is planning an expansion to Los Angeles, CA, consists of 14 attorneys, all experts in the field of U.S. immigration and nationality law, with more than two dozen staff members handling the work of a distinguished and ever-growing clientele. The firm is known for its prompt and efficient service. Despite its steady growth over the past 50 years, the hallmark of the law practice remains the individualized attention to its clients’ needs.

Michael represents many performing artists, directors, writers, models, actors/actresses, athletes, race car drivers, fine artists, art dealers, curators, and literary agents. Some of his recent clients include famed artist Sarah Brightman, many of the former Miss Universes’ as well as soccer icon Pele; master Chef Jean-Georges and  other talented artists. Mr. Wildes also served two terms as the Mayor of Englewood, New Jersey and was a member of the New Jersey Governor’s Blue Ribbon Panel on Immigration.
