Law Firm to Pursue Mandamus Action on Asylum Claim of Chinese Whistleblower

Managing Partner of Wildes and Weinberg, P.C., Michael Wildes, has announced the firm’s representation of Miles Guo in connection to a federal court action intended to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security complies with its duty to fairly and impartially adjudicate the asylum applications of Mr. Miles Guo and those of several of his family members and fellow dissidents.

A highly-respected businessman and prominent political activist and media figure, Mr. Guo is an outspoken critic of the Chinese Communist party. After providing evidence to support corruption charges against a Chinese government official, Mr. Guo was forced to flee from Hong Kong in 2015 in the wake of several politically motivated charges planned by the Chinese Communist Party. He, his family, and friends have endured arrests and unthinkably inhumane harm in the custody of the Chinese Communist Party.

As a young man, Mr. Guo was arrested for supporting student activists in the wake of the Tiananmen Square protests. His younger brother was fatally shot during the arrest. After serving 22 months in jail, Mr. Guo became involved in his families’ real estate development and investments. Since coming to America, Mr. Guo has continued to openly criticize the Chinese government to his hundreds of thousands of his supporters on social media, going so far as to declare his open opposition to the Chinese Communist Party, taking a nearly unheard-of stance among the Chinese elite.
